Easy run

So Tom joined me on a run last night! I didn't think he would actually do it, but he showed up ready to go. We took Spencer, the pup, too. Easy (almost) 2 mile run and it was nice to have him "pushing" me along. :)

However, poor Spencer did not fare as well. After we got home, he promptly threw up. Oops. (PS. He is totally fine!)

Bad Blogger

Sorry it's been a hot minute since i last posted. I can't even tell you WHERE the month of October has gone. But Halloween is this weekend and it's one of my favorite holidays - plus, one of my sisters will be in town!

On to the running...

First, a big THANK YOU to my awesome co-worker, Marissa. She made a donation and is helping me plan a kick-ass fundraiser. More details to come...

So, the running has been so-so lately. We did 6 miles on Saturday and it was pretty tough. For some reason, 6 miles felt a hell of a lot longer than 5 miles. I really was ready to pack it in at one point, but i stuck through it and finished the run. It did take me forever & a day, though. :P

I'm being a bad runner & skipping this Saturday's run, due to the forementioned Halloween celebrations & sister being in town. Then next week i am running the Phoenix 10k (6.4 miles). Kinda nervous about it, but we'll see how it goes. Hope they give away some good swag!

Short post

We are supposed to log 17 miles this week. Oy!

Did my 4 mile run today - 4 more miles on Wednesday, 3 on Thursday and then our 6 mile group run on Saturday. I am determined to make this week better than last!

PS. Liquid bandage is a God send. Can't even feel my blister anymore. :)

Ugh.

Well i guess with the highs...come the lows.

Ultimate high being able to finish 5 miles on Saturday. However, the new Nikes gave me a MONSTER blister and my runs this week have suffered because of it. I've barely logged 3 miles this week, due to the pain. And i know i am going to be super, super disappointed Saturday morning if i can't finish the 5 miles.

I guess i just have to chalk this week up to a failure.

Plus, i lost my Nike sensor tonight. :( I am back to my old shoes and i laced the sensor in my shoe laces....evidently that was a horrible idea bc it fell out somewhere during my run. Sigh. Not a good week.

WOW

You guys.....i did it! Today at our group run, i ran the full 5 miles!!!!

This is a total first for me and i am still kinda in shock that i did it. Unfortunately, no one was up when i was finished so i didnt have anyone to call and brag to. :)

My Nike+iPod sensor actually says i ran farther, but i'm not sure how accurate it is. (Either that or Coach Dave is pulling one over us!)

Distance: 5.76 miles
Time: 1:06:37
Pace: 11:33 mi/min
Calories: 713 (i like that number!!)

Legs = Cement



Well, another week of training has gone by. Last Saturday we did our 5-mile group run. It wasn't too terribly bad and Coach Dave even told me that my form looked good! I only had to stop twice to walk, so I feel pretty good about my run.




Unfortunately, my new Nikes don't seem to like my feet. :( I ran in them again last night and it wasn't as bad, but there is still one spot that is prone to blistering. May have to switch back to my old shoes...




Last night's run was ok: we had 3 miles on the schedule and i ran the full 3 miles! However, i felt like i was running with these on my legs:

My legs felt like someone had filled them up with cement before my run, which was not very pleseant. But i kept on trucking and my Nike+iPod sensor told me my pace was 11 minutes/mile, which is pretty good for me!
Another 5 miles this Saturday and next Saturday. My goal: to run the full 5 miles by next Saturday. Wish me luck!

Nike+iPod

Can i just tell you how cool this is?? I tested out my new shoes and iPod sensor last night for my run. I was breaking in my shoes, so i only did 2.5 miles, as my feet were starting to blister. But when I was done, my handy dandy iPod told me my progress!

How cool is that?? Can't wait to use it again for our run tomorrow morning...which will be 5 miles. Ugh, wish me luck. My goal is to stop no more than 2 times to walk....
