Still riding that "high"

Thank you for all the well wishes and congratulations!! I honestly thought about you guys during the race - i thought about your race reports, tips you had learned, funny stories...it helped me soldier on. :)

I want to get back to running right away, but i know i need to let my legs heal a bit. I'm just going to stick to some low-impact cardio this week and hopefully get back in the running groove after that.

I think my next goal, if you want to call it that, is some speed work. I didn't do any during my training, as i was more focused on just learning to run long distances. But since i want to improve my times and endurance, i've heard many-a-good thing about speed work on the blogs.

Any tips or routines you like to use? Treadmill or track? Totally new to this!

Oh, and i'm already thinking about my next half. :) I'll definitely be running some 5 & 10ks, but i think i'm looking at Rock & Roll 1/2 Marathon in Vegas in December! Sounds like a good desitnation run to me...

oooh I totally want to do that race! My friend, Raciel, ran it last year and her race pics are sooooo awesome! She had a blast with her sisters. So sad it coincides with CIM =(

Speedwork will definitely help improve your times =) I prefer to do mine outside (no track near me), but if the weather is too hot or too wet, I do it on the treadmill. I think doing it outside is probably better, but really, as long as you're pushing your heart and lungs hard, either is fine =)

go to san diego! I have some awesome speed work my coach made for me, I'll e-mail it to ya! I usually do it on a treadmill just cuz its the easiest way to control my pace

Niiice! I really want to do a Rock 'n Roll this year. Probably not the one in Vegas b/c its a long way for me. But I've heard such good things about them. And obviously, you liked it enough to consider another!

And haha,I like to call it "speed work" because I'm not really THAT fast. I can already tell its helping though.
