Taking the plunge....

Well kids, i've done it.

I bought Jillian Michael's 30-Day Shred.

I have heard so much about it over the blogosphere & a friend recently tried it - i thought i should hop on the bandwagon, too.

HOLE. LEE. CRAP.

I did level 1 for the first time last night and let me tell you: i was dripping with sweat when i was done! Anxious to see what changes will be made in a month...

Haven't given up on running! But i think i'll let Jillian kick my ass into shape for a while...

Pat's Run 2010

Well, i completed Pat's Run!

....along with 28,000 other people!! The race was INSANELY crowded - i felt like i was back at PF Chang's.

I decided to wear last year's shirt because i wasn't thrilled with this year's color (boring white.) Plus, i had signed up to run Pat's last year.....but got laid off the day before and ended up drowning my sorrows in multiple Bud Lights that night. Oops.

Anyways, it was cool to see so many people out for a great cause - but delayed the start time. The race was scheduled to start at 7am, but didn't get going until 7:40.

I was in corral 9 and we weren't even CLOSE to the starting line, when the elite runners were already finishing! It was funny, but also kinda sad. :)

It was also pretty much impossible to find a decent pace while running. I would get in my stride, only to be stonewalled by a group of walkers, or strollers, or people with their dogs. It was frustrating, so i ended up just running the race for fun and not even worrying about how slow i was going.

(My time proved it, too: 55:41.)

One of the coolest parts about the race, you get to run into Sun Devil (ASU) stadium and finish on the 42 yard line. (42 was Pat's number when he played for ASU.)

All in all, a fun race. I do hope they work out a new course next year, as the crowd was just waaaay too much.

My view of the "start" line.

Finishing inside the ASU stadium!

Thunder thighs

Soooo....went for a run in shorts last night for the first time in...oh, several, several months.

Ladies and gentlemen, i have thunder thighs.

I mean, i kinda knew i had them but let me tell you how awful it was running in shorts - i was pulling them down every other minute.

Very depressing. I'm not sure why i have the metabolism of a manatee, but i sure do. Think i may need to change my blog name to "FAT Wannabe Runner".

Ok, mine may not be this bad...

Doing Good

I am so beating Tom in our workout competition. I think i am two - possible three- days ahead. Free dinner, here i come! ;)

Pat's Run is on Saturday. I think i only know one or two people who are running it, but that's ok. I kinda prefer to run by myself during races - i find when i run with other people, i tend to go too fast and tire more quickly. (That and i'd rather zone out and listen to music then worry about if i'm slowing down my friends.)

I feel "ok" for this race. It's only 4.2 miles, but lately I've been keeping my mileage pretty low. Mostly because my calves are giving me problems again. Sigh. I should probably try out a new pair of shoes, but don't want to spend the $$ right now. (Moving is expensive!!)

Mentioning moving...we move in April 30!! Hope this little guy likes his new backyard...

Still in the lead

I'm still one day up on Tom. :) Although we may be tied again, if he goes for a walk with me & Spencer this afternoon...

Still being plagued by calf problems - i'm sure it has to do with my form when i'm running and i hate to say it, but when i got my Brooks (back in November, ha) is when my calves started acting up. Very frustrating.

Pat's Run is next week...i'm excited, but not sure i am really prepared. I've been pretty lax on my running, only doing 2 or so miles each run. Need to step up my game, especially if i still plan on running the 1/2 in Vegas in December...

Woo hoo!

I am up one day! Tom did not work out and i did a two mile run last night. Yessss. :)

Do any of you read Shut up and Run's blog? She is freaking hilarious and an amazing runner, to boot. She is hosting a kick-ass giveaway that i wanted to share with you.

(Hey if i don't win, it would be cool if someone i do "know" wins. :) )

Challenge...

So i've found something that will maybe get my mojo back. I have challenged Tom to a workout "duel".

We have to work out at least 5 days, for two weeks. (10 days total) The person with the most days wins a free dinner! I'm not very competitive, but i feel like this is an area where i can beat him. ;)

It started today and so far - Tom already skipped his morning run. Ha! I'm hitting the pavement after work...wish me luck!
