An actual run!

So, believe it or not, i actually got up & ran this morning!

It was only 2 miles and it was pretty hot out for it being 6am. I was a sweaty mess by the time i got back to the house. :P

That makes 4 days of workouts this week (3 days of Shred + one run). I'd like to say i'm going to workout tomorrow, but the only thing i will be working is my liver: the gang is headed up to Flagstaff for Beerfest! We usually hit up the Tucson Beerfest, so it will be fun to compare the two.

Obviously, that's going to mess up my "diet". Can i consider tomorrow my cheat day? :)

Question: What is your perfect running weather?
I know some people like it hot, but man. NOT. ME. Give me 68-72 degrees, slight breeze, and i am set.

Shredding

I'm still rocking Jillian Michael's 30-Day Shred...man, it's a crazy workout. I wish i could be running more, but it is just SO HOT in AZ right now. (High of 112 today....yeah.)

I'm also trying to lose some weight - insert groan here. I've started back up my "Lose it!" app on my phone and tracking my calories. Really hope to see some progress over the next month...

And, in exciting news: Katye from Long Legs on the Loose let me know she was chosen to be a coach for the Rock & Roll 1/2/Marathon in Phoenix!! Send her congrats & i can't wait to meet her in January! :)

Thanks!

I was tagged by Inspired to Run with the Versatille Blogger Award. Thanks, lady!

I need to tell 7 random things about myself, and tag 7 people. So, let's go:

1.) I can't listen to my iPod unless it's on shuffle. Back in the days of CDs, it was the same way. I hate knowing what song comes on next.

2.) I've lived in 5 different states. Born in Virginia, moved to Tennessee when i was 4, moved to Arkansas when i was 5, moved to Missouri when i was 18 (for college) and to Arizona when i was 24. Whew!

3.) I'm missing a piece of my spine. Doesn't effect me, but it was discovered when i had x-rays when i was younger.

4.) I was born with the cord wrapped around my neck. I came out blue & not crying. Scary for the 'rents, but obviously i turned out ok. ;)

5.) I have never driven a stick shift. Never really wanted to, either.

6.) I am pretty shy, but i love karaoke. And rock band. I looooove to sing. I think i have a decent voice, but i usually choose songs that dont require much musical skill. :)

7.) I believe in guardian angels. Saved the best for last - when i was around 5, my dad and I were headed out to church. It was just the two of us, as my mom stayed home with my little sister because she was sick. I started to open the passenger side door to my dad's Jeep, but got a weird feeling. I decided to sit in the back instead. He made fun of me, but i insisted on sitting in the back.
On the way to church, a lady ran a red light - and smashed right into the passenger side door of the Jeep. Not sure how badly i would have been hurt if i sat there, but  someone was watching out for me that day. :)

Ok, my 7!

I'm back!

Sort of.

I don’t know how often I will be updating, but I found myself with some time & wanted to let you all know what’s been going on.

Workouts

Well, I bought the 30-Day Shred. I kept hearing so much about it over the interwebz, I decided it must be good. And let me tell you, Jillian Michaels kicks. My. Ass.

But in a good way.

I am a sweaty mess by the time I am done with that thing. I haven’t tried level 3 yet (for fear of my life), but it’s my goal to start it next week.

I haven’t been running much, but Tom & I did go on a couple of runs last week. No music, no Nike+, just the two of us running & (occasionally) chatting. I noticed I felt a lot stronger in my runs and didn’t have to stop & walk. It was VERY encouraging. My plan is to run at least 3x a week, and do Jillian 2-3x a week. I think the Shred has really helped my cardiovascular endurance.

And i do miss running. It doesn't help that Phoenix is heating up (110 this weekend)...but i'm going to do my best to get out there early mornings/late evenings.

It’s still my plan to run the Vegas Rock & Roll ½ in December, so we’ll see…

Life

We have moved into the new house & love it! The extra space is great, and Spencer loves being able to go out in the backyard whenever he wants. Plus, he has grown to love Kenzi (Tom’s dog). They chase and play and wear themselves out. It’s great. :)

My friend Lindsay visited over Memorial Day weekend & we had a great time. We went horseback riding on Friday – something I haven’t done since I was 10. Everything was fine & dandy until our guide’s horse threw him off because he heard a rattlesnake & our horses proceeded to chase after him. Freaking scary!

We also went tubing on the Salt River, which was a blast, and had tons of frozen yogurt throughout the weekend. (My new weakness – ugh.)

Well, that’s it from me for now. I’ll try to be better about stopping in & commenting on your pages. Best of luck to everyone who has a race coming up!!!

Couple of pictures, just because.

Molly & i had to pose by this place while we were in Vegas, since we are both Irish. :)

Best buddies, Kenzi & Spencer!
