One day down...

21 more weeks to go! (ha)

So Monday marked my first official day of Half Marathon #3 training. Schedule called for 2 miles - nothing to get too worked up about. Besides the fact that when i set out for this run it was NINETY NINE DEGREES, it was a relatively decent run. I did need to take a break to walk for a bit - due to the fact that steam was rising off my body.

Tonight is another 2 miles. Today's high is 107. That's right, 107. I believe I will be waiting until the sun sets before I head out. :P

Let's talk headphones. Some of you may not run with music, but i prefer it. I need that distraction/beats to keep me going. I've been using the standard iPod headphones and they are driving me crazy. The strap is too long and it ends up flopping everywhere during my run, or getting tangled on my arm or iPod or whatever external appendage it wants to attach itself to.

Recommendations for some good headphones please? :)

107?!?! That is beyond ridiculous. BEYOND.

Ya, i'd wait till the sun is down too. You could get one of those squirt bottle fan thingy's and carry that with you on runs. Haha. That would be so badass.

Hi, good luck with your half training! I have had good luck with these: http://www.auria.com/ Saw them on another running blog (not affiliated at all, just very happy customer). They aren't cheap, but they do stay put and the sound is pretty good. A little cheaper at Amazon, I think.

Oh that weather is way too hot! We have finally settled into some perfect weather before July goes and gets nasty hot!

107!? As in, degrees?! Why don't you strip naked and just try to fit yourself into the oven and run in there? Good Lord, that's hot!

Drink, drink, drink... I'll be very sad if I read about dehydration on this page in the next few days!

Have a great run tonight!

107 degrees is sizzling hot.
Good luck with your training in the heat!

About the earphones, I don't like this earbuds because it feels like I'm shuffing things into my ears. And sometimes, they slip out. Maybe it's a wrong fit?
Have you tried tying the cord?

OUCH 107... YIKES!!

As for the headphones, I have these and I love them, http://www.amazon.com/Philips-SHQ4000-28-Neckband-Headphones/dp/B004477D0K/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1305557923&sr=8-2
they aren't too outrageously expensive and they sound good, but MOST importantly they stay on your head and in your ears. I'd buy these again.

I've given up on music .. and since I tend to run in the wee early mornings .. it's kinda nice and tranquil still. Anyway, I used to use the sony brand that wrap around the ears ... found it stays put better. As for the cord, I used to have then under my shirt and exit from the back to my ears. This way, it was out of my face all the time and yeah, no tangling around my arms or whatever.

Get plenty of fluids during the day ... and of course on your run (time to get a fuel belt). I'll be thinking of ya tonight, as we have our team run at 6:30pm.

Fun times !

I totally agree that the headphones that come with the ipods SUCK! especially for running. I got some skull candy headphones and they work great! plus I think they were only about 15 bucks at target...and I have had them for almost a year and still love them to death...and they come in cool colors! Did I sell those enough? haha
