This will happen to me one day. I just know it.
So you guys that have gym memberships: how do you find a good balance between the two? And what's your routine at the gym? I'm too much of a weanie to ask one of the trainers for recommendations, so that's why I'm coming to you. :)
Also - did i mention I turned 30 last month? Yeah, I didn't. Because it depresses me. (No offense to any one) but 30 just sounds so OLD! I did manage to stop feeling sorry for myself long enough to go out with a bunch of friends that night for karaoke. I was a 90s rap superstar that evening!

I have some weeks I run on the treadmill at the gym way more, and some weeks I don't step foot in the gym. My overall goal is 3 days of strength training in the gym, and at least 3 days of running, either at the gym or outside. This week so far I've gone outside once, and on the treadmill once. I will probably go outside once more too. When I am at the gym, I usually spend one day on arms and shoulders, one day on legs, and one day on back and abs. I am by no means a perfect example, but it typically works for me and my schedule. :)
I haven't been at the gym in weeks...but I know I'll go back. I try to do weight lifting at the gym and run at home or outside.
Or sit in the sauna at the gym. ;)
happy belated 30th! i went through a deep depression at 30 and not even sure why...i felt old! lol...i'm sure i'm making you feel so great, huh? sorry.
wow, i wish i had gym membership or treadmill most days, but outside is all we've got. i figure when i go back to work, i'll save up and buy us some nice equipment for here at the house!!
Happy Belated Birthday! Thirty is the new twenty. I was excited about turning 30. And I must say, it has been WONDERFUL thus far!
When I had my membership at the Y, I only go twice a day to run on the stupid treadmill. I dont like classes and the weights section were usually occupied by beefy grunting men. :) I hated it. Plus it was always warm and humid and smelled like old sweat.
Hence, I got a treadmill this past Christmas and I LOVE it!!
I have a membership, but rarely use it. I need to get there more often. I just hate it. I always get the creepy man or the perfume/cellphone lady next to me. No one wipes machines down & it's just gross. I'd rather be outside or in my living room.
Happy birthday!
Hey be nice .. some of us are in our 4th chapter .. lol.
I really only go to the gym to swim and do strength training. Of course after each, I tackle a few miles on the treadmill but no actual long runs done in the gym (I hate the treadmill).
Sorry I missed your bash. Lemme know if you need some routines for the gym ..
You already know i'm making it to the gym in the mornings, so I won't go into a whole schpeel about that.
oh, and i'm just WAITING for the day i bust it on that treadmill. i will totally ask a stranger to take my picture too!
oh girl, I turn 31....30-ONE!! in a month and that is way harder than 30. I don't know why. It just seems like 31 is like ancient or something. ugh.
I'll turn 31 this summer, and for some reason, that number is hitting me harder than 30. It makes me nervous. We bought a treadmill at Christmas, and I love it! If I have to drive somewhere to pour sweat out in front of people, I won't do it. I love being able to run in my own home. I've done the gym thing before, and it made me so nervous. I'm a gym wimp.
Still bummed I passed out and missed it:( You are fabulous, even at 30!
Gym wise, I like to go to 2-3 classes a week at the gym (that way I feel like I'm using my membership) and then opt to run on the other nights or do a Pilates/pure barre DVD at home. Walking the dogs count as cardio too!... and the stairs at the beach:)
You should try a weight-lifting class like Body Pump. You're in and out in about an hr, there's music and everyone's doing the same thing - watching the instructor.
